Step right up, step right up! The MLS train leaves heartbreak station (Philadelphia) and stops at the money station (optimistic) in Toronto.
This weekend on paper looks beautiful. Both for the match ups and especially for the betting opportunities. It is one of those weeks where you can scroll down the fixtures and tick all the home teams off as winners. Of course thats how things should go down but after last weekend we can all be aware a game can turn on its arse at any moment.
I wise spread this week across multiple games is on the menu, keep the risk low and spread out on some favourites.
Those of you that got on the early home lines did the right thing, odds dropped as usual and the market has balanced out until lineups are announced later on.
Toronto FC v New England
Picking this match as a focus I really like both teams, you know what you’re getting with them and both are quite stable.
New England are poor away and Toronto are good anywhere. Giovinco is rested as he didn’t play on Thursday so the pocket rocket superstar will be ready for this one.
The thing that impressed me most about Toronto this season is their squad rotation and it is up there with FC Dallas, so much depth and all players seem to put in a good shift for them. New England will win away from home at some point, they are always good for a goal if they have the right lineup but I think tonight is a step too far for them. Toronto are on fire and with odds of 1.7 upwards on them from the bookies it seems madness. Can you imagine Chelsea on 1.7 at home to some average sides? Nope me neither. MLS baby!
Houston Dynamo v FC Dallas
THE BATTLE OF TEXAS!
The Battle of Texas is something they take seriously in MLS. It is normally quite a lovely affair for MLS standards. Another pick of mine as again two really fun teams to watch with a huge amount of quality. FC Dallas having the best defence (Not by stats) in MLS but also being incredibly gifted in attacking areas making them the top 3 to 4 teams in MLS. Houston on the other hand are REALLY good at home and play fun, dynamic football. Goals are pouring in for them at the BBVA Compass Stadium. I think this will be a great game so if you can get your mrs and dog to bed and crack open a few beers then this could be a really good one to watch. Yes I am drinking, why? You counting how many I have had?
I can see goals here and I would like to say BTTS and o2.5 is a good thing to look at. Anything else would be a let down. for a game of this size.
Urrati for FC Dallas has 9 goals in 15 MLS starts. Would be a good shout for goal scorer. Dynamo’s Torres has a more impressive 13 goals in 15 MLS starts.
New York Red Bulls v New York City
HUGE game this one for obvious reasons. New York derby time!
Ok this one hasn’t got more than a years history but believe me when I say this both sets of fans are up for this one. Americans are getting the hang of it (apart from some of the embarrassing chants of course).
You got two strikers going head to head who both have incredibly different careers. David Villa v Bradley Wright Philips.
One who left England to find a different adventure which paid off and restarted his career. He is the first to admit his all round play isn’t great but you cannot fault his MLS goal scoring record which will put him down as one of the greats. He finally found his home.
If you are looking for a good week old podcast listen to the men in blazers feature on him. One of the most honest and best features on a player I have heard, BWP is as down to earth as you can get. GO LISTEN NOW!
The other striker who for me is one of the best finishers the game has ever seen is of course David Villa and a legend in status as he’s won the lot.
He can still play ball, watch him play, see his passion and look at his stats!
So for me these two players will decide the outcome of this match, no doubt about it.
The over bet was well in the 2.3 in odds and for me that is a steal. It’s really value with these two teams who really can’t defend so well. Especially City.
I am not saying for sure that there will be a lot of goals however the bookies seemed to have over shot themselves there.
Thats the features anyway, plenty more games to watch out for and some good match ups.
I’m off to the fridge without food.
