Napoli v Juventus Preview

I honestly can’t think of a better way to start off this glorious month that is December

Napoli are taking on Juventus at the mighty and jam-packed Stadio San Paolo in Naples tonight at 20:45 CEST. The hosts find themselves at the top of the table, whereas the reigning six times champions from Turin are to be found in third spot, 4 points behind Maurizio Sarri’s men.

I’ll be cutting right to the chase now. I have to admit that I’m having trouble seeing this being the spectacle on the field as the hype would suggest if Juventus and Allegri get their wish. Not long ago we saw Inter with Spalletti pulling the black and blue Milanese strings, pretty much shutting down the Napoli at the San Paolo, ending the match in a 0-0 draw. This may very well be the outcome tonight if Napoli don’t get an early goal.

It’s been a lot of talk about this being Napoli’s season in regards of finally getting their hands of lo scudetto post Maradona’s era. With that in mind, a draw here, keeping the 4 point gap down to Piemonte’s pride, wouldn’t be such a disaster. A loss though would send Juventus up literally scratching their back.

For Juventus a loss for them would be quite detrimental to their chances of extending their scudetto run as Napoli will be 7 points ahead. They’d of course take the 3 points tonight if given the possibility but in my book, both teams’ fear of losing will be the heavier impact compared to their will to win.

How do I think the match will develop and play out? Well I’d see Napoli not surprisingly be in charge of the possession, with Juventus’ chances will most likely be created on the counter when Napoli’s unbalanced at the back. Juventus are rumoured to start with the trident of Douglas Costa, Higuaín and Dybala up front. If given the necessary slack and space, they could definitely cause the hosts some problems tonight.

Thus I’ll be investing in the following objects for tonight’s mouth-watering encounter in Italy:

5 units on the draw @ 3.38 (Pinnacle)

6 units on Juventus +0.25 @ 2.05 (SBObet)

5 units on under 0.75 goals at half-time @ 2.28 (SBObet)

The Italian newspapers have it that Maggio will be starting at right-back for Napoli tonight. If that’s true and he’ll be dancing against Douglas Costa, it could get really sweaty for the ageing Napoli full-back.

2 units on Maggio to get booked @ 5 (Unibet/Nordicbet)
